Dr. Akosoa McFadgion is a licensed master social worker and research psychologist. With over 20 years' experience, she has conducted research that examined child sexual abuse prevention, the intersection of HIV, Substance Abuse, and Domestic violence, and the prevalence of traumatic brain injuries among survivors of intimate partner violence.
She continues to conduct research and training in healthy relationships, trauma, domestic violence, family violence, and how these factors influence the health of women and girls. She is also particularly effective in engaging communities to promote health and wellness for individuals, families, and social service organizations.
Under the supervision of Wendy Alias, Licensed Independent Social Worker, Dr. McFadgion provides therapy framed with a trauma-informed and African-Centered approach. Her focus is supporting, women, girls, and men who are survivors of relationship violence, sexual assault, and recovering from childhood trauma.
